Targa bar interior removal?
Searched could not find. I took the seat belts off, coat hooks and 2 lower screws on each side under the side trim. Is there a trick? I do not want to force it.
Thanks for any help! Mine is peeling and I want to re-glue. |

Believe there are at least two forward facing pices fo metal attached to the liner which slide into metal slots on the targa bar, so you need to pull the inner lining backward to remove

I'm at about the same place that you are. I've got a 1980 targa. looks to me that the whole back part of the interior has to come out to get the inner part of the bar out.
Has anyone managed to re glue the wrapping upholstery on this part of the interior? I did try with 3m spray adhesive but it has separated. Thinking about using contact cement. There is a foam layer in there that complicates the repair. Any suggestions? Cheers Richard |

The inner liner is secured by a number of tabs that insert into slots in the underside of the targa bar. Once you have remove the interior light, seatbelts, and any other visible fasteners you need to push hard on the liner toward the rear of the car and push the line tabs out of the slots. All of the tabs in my car were covered in some sort of sound deadening material which ensured a very tight fit.
I only recommend doing this if you plan to take the rear glass out. Or have some other compelling reason. Putting it back in after the fact was an enormous pain in the ass!
