Aluminum wheel lugs????

I recently purchased a 1988 911 Carrera and found that it has aluminum lug nuts not steel. This is new to me. Should I keep the aluminum ones or switch over to steel ones.
Car will have to endure agressive use.
If I keep the aluminum nuts what torque should I use .
If the steel ones are obtained same question.
Thanks again for all the assistance.
Don

Correct Lug Nut Torque

96 ft-pds
130 NM

other fun reading, this has been discussed many a time (whether or not to lubricate the studs):

The lug nuts are indeed very light weight alloy. Standard equipment with the Fuchs wheels. Don't panic! 94lbs, with a torque wrench will be fine.

Alu nuts are standard. Use anti-seize for a better torque-tension correlation. Porsche spec'd the torque for threads with Optimoly paste so that is what you use. If you don't, then there will be less tension in the joint than there should be. It will also help extend the life of the nuts, as the aluminum wears out.

Apply lube to the threads and the ball area that the nut seats to the wheel with.

Nothing wrong with aluminum nuts. If doing much track driving, you might want nuts with which you can see thread engagement. You can get nuts with the ends machined off in either aluminum or steel.

+1 for lubing the studs.

Some race sanctioning bodies require open-ended steel nuts.

The center cover plates on my BBS wheels were not seating all the way down because of the Aluminum nuts. I considered turning them down, but ended up for safety reasons buying steel nuts. Pelican Parts has them for $2.00 a piece. My local auto parts house wanted $4.00 plus each.
