Chips
I have been shopping chip replacements for my 89 911 3.2 and there is a wide variety in price from Authority, Weltmeister, and some on EBay (Autowerks was the brand on EBAY).
Is this another instance of you get what you pay for or are they all basically doing the same thing? My mechanic uses the Authority which was the way I was leaning incase I ran into a problem (I will do the install).

If you go with Autothority and you're getting it from them directly, make sure to mention the "Mention this Ad and get 10% off" ad in Excellence.

If your patient, one will pop up on Ebay. That is how I bought mine. As long as your sure of the exact item number, you should be ok. I got mine from some guy with the exact address as Autothority in VA. Go figure. Cost $200. Check the previous post on chips. Some guy actually determined the specific eprom codes of the chip manufactures. Nice car by the way.

I bought one from Mr Slots on Ebay last year and never installed it. Decided not to mess with it. It is still new in box. If you want it I'll sell it for less than cost. I think I paid about 110 for it.

Make sure that the redline on the chip is well below the 7200 rpm where the rod bolts depart the rods on a 3.2 motor!
Some of the aftermarket people raise the limit, but just how much do you want to test the software? JoeA

I too bought a chip, but never installed it. It's from Europroducts.
I think that if, and when I decide to chip the car I'm going to get a custom one from Steve Weiner... something programed specifically for my car with my mods.

I want to do the UniChip on my car some day. Too much stuff going on right now with the paint job and new garage.
