Investigating climate control and power mirror problems

Hi all-
I have a 1980 SC, and apparently not one single thing on the climate control works right. At least the floor levers for the heaters function right.
AC inop
Hot air blower inop
Fresh air blower inop
Hot air control cable broken
Fresh air control cable disconnected

Lovely.

A few questions:
hot air cable - the Z bend at the control head is broken off. Wondering if I can put another bend in it or weld the broken piece back on? Only other solution is a complete used control.
fresh air cable - the driver's side "control box" 911-571-049-07 is broken - for the life of me, it looks like someone CUT OFF the piece that connects to the cables. Part is NLA, don't know what used availability is like? Seem reasonable to somehow rebuild the missing section, pin/epoxy, something? Here's a pic
The cables that connected to that piece are just hanging in space, missing the fast clamps 901-571-919-00. Those are available from our host for 4.50 ea, but curious if there's a workaround - $10 for a couple of clips kinda pains me.

Mirrors:
While changing out the door speakers, I figured I'd see if I could get the power mirrors to work. Well, they "work" kinda, but don't actually move. I can hear the motors attempt to move, when I move the switch, but they don't do much more than click/groan. Do these generally work okay, or is it another common issue? Don't really care, more of a "while I'm in there" thing. The control switch is riveted together, otherwise I'd open/clean, retension. Any thoughts?
Lastly - the mirrors jiggle. Is there a way to fix this? The glass appears loose in the mounting.

The mirror glass may simply be loose. They're designed to be replaceable, and are easily removed by gripping the mirror with your fingertips and rocking it while pulling it outward. There's like little studs glued to the back of the glass which fit into the motor mechanism in the mirror housing, and one or more may have snapped or given out. If you're like "Lotto winning" lucky, you may just have to shove the mirror glass inward until you feel a positive detent, and all will be healed.

Thanks, will check that out.

Ordered a heater box, cable, and clips from EASY. Then I get to try to figure out the rest of this mess. UGH.

Oh well, to at least get some flow-through ventilation would be nice. Dark car with a lot of glass parked in the sun all day is not a pleasant place.
