Talking Has anyone put carbs on a 2.7 CIS w/ or w/o a cam change?

I have a 1975 CIS 2.7 engine in running condition, but I want to put some webers carburetors on it just to try it out and see how it runs. However, before I go to all that work, I was wondering if anyone else has tried to put carbs on one of these motors with the stock CIS cams? Has anyone put carbs on a 2.7 CIS engine with just a cam change? How did it work out?

Thanks in advance.

I have a 2.7 CIS pistons, T cams and distributor, weber IDS 40s, main jets 130, iddle jets 55-60, and emulsion tubes F3. Runs well, still has a flat spot at about 4K rpm, but this should get you started.

Thanks for the detailed information.

Did you have to do anything to the pistons or did you just stick the T-cams into the engine without any internal mods?

Is there any particular reason that you chose T cams? I spoke with Web-Cam and Elgin and they both have cams with the SC profile (little more duration on the Elgin grind) which will work with the CIS pistons without changing pistons.

Rich,

I think there must have been a miscommunication with the Web-Cam people ... the CIS+ grind they normally recommend (20-21 is what some have called it) for upgrading SC engines that keep the CIS) is slightly more aggressive than the 964 profile, which is hotter than SC, which is hotter than 2.7 CIS. The limitation is clearance with the CIS piston crowns.
