1973.5 911T hand brake flasher/blinker noise

When the hand brake is engaged on my 1973.5 911T, the red flasher at the top of the tachometer flashes and the blinker noise is heard. When I release the hand brake, the red flasher stops flashing, but the blinker noise doesn't stop - it never stops.

Any ideas on what part needs to be checked out?

Hey mine does that but then stops when I release the lever. Is the noise coming from the gauge or behind it? Maybe listen behind it in the front trunk above the gas fill.

question....................

what does the the adjustment contact screw on the brake handle do relative to the brake infamous red light your talking about?. Look down on the passenger side of the brake lever (way down) and you can see a small adjustment screw for the electrical contact. Does'nt this play into the overall electrical circuit contact point for the light? Its tough to adjust (loosen screw and it travels up or down) unless you use a very small handled screw driver or simply pull out the passenger seat to get a good bite on it.

thanks
Bob
