Rusty brake rotors
Complete brake job was done on all 4 sides of 77 Targa before going to sleep 3 years ago. Now the rotors are covered in surface rust. Wondering if this is a drive and the pads clean them up or should they be cleaned with an abrasive such as emery cloth then brake cleaner. They will certainly be cleaned before driving but is it necessary to clean the 3 years of rust off. Car has been in dry storage.

I would be more concerned about seized pistons. The rust should come off with a short drive.

Don't bother with cleaning them by hand. As Widgeon says - a drive to scuff. Stop and take a look and then bed your pads into the rotors. That means about 5 stops from 70 down to 30. Stink them up real good then drive normal for a while to cool them down.
