Front valance Carrera 3.0, early SC
I'm planning to tidy up the car and respray the front valance. Since I most likely will not be reinstalling the fog lights, I will cover up the holes.
My question is... does the Carrera (pre 1975) use the protective coating on its front valance, or is it painted "smooth?" I've searched and found some pictures, but none show this area of the car very well. Many thanks. |

IIRC, the front valence on my 77 did not originally have the stone-guard material under the paint. I sold it a long time ago, but I remember that it had a lot of chips, and I made sure that the painter used the stone-guard when painting the 84 Carrera style valence that I replaced it with.

Stone guard is a good deal in the long run. Got for it.

You could/should use a stone guard that is smooth underneath, just tint it to the color of your car so that it doesn't show with the inevitable stone chips.

I just had the lower valence on my SC off this weekend as I'm fitting a RUF replacement. Mine does have the rubberized coating on the outside.
