osidak,

Since you don't really know the year of your replacement piston ... it might weigh anything between 636 g and 676 g.

Do you know the weight class markings ( --, -, +, ++} on all six of your 'good' pistons?

Osidak, I would take your cracked piston and the new one to a machine shop and get them to compare the weights. Warren is it ok for Osidak to file metal from the moulded inside of the piston to get the weights within a gram of eachother ?

When I had my pistons balanced, I was really suprised at how much material the machinist had to remove from the undersides. On the mahles, under the wrist pin on the square side is where he removed quite a bit of material.

On a couple he said he almost had to lightly shave the thick part of the dome (under side) to get them all within a gram of each other.

He took the lightest piston, pin, circlip combo and used it for the average weight.

JDUB has them now...maybe he can post pics!
