it sounds like the blow-off valves for the turbos.

I think it sounds cheesy and I would get annoyed in a short time.

I thought that's how the CTR1 got it's nick name "yellowbird" some car journalist thought it sounded like a bird tweeting and it being yellow.
And yes that is the most annoying bov I have ever heard. Cool video non the less.

Those BOV's would drive me nuts in about 5 seconds!.
However I would probably be prepared to shove cotton wool in my ears for a few laps in that puppy!

That is unbelieveable. Is it really that much faster than all of those cars? It seems like a new GT3/2/cup would be able to at least keep up with it, especially in the turns. Makes me want to start converting my lowly old SC into something similar. He's passing cars so quickly, he looks like an 'A' driver who is driving in the 'D' group.

I have an aftermarket BOV on my turbo MX-5 recently as part of a performance upgrade. It's not even as loud as the one in this video and it drives me nuts. It's borderline embarrasing if you're trying to drive through a neighborhood. On a pure racecar, I don't think would bother me though.

"A" driver in the "D" group was my thought also...it can't really be that much faster. If I had to listen to that noise much longer I think I might start cutting myself.

Gents...This is not the yellowbird per se...it is one of the 30 or so customer cars Alois sold back in the late 80's. This particular one is ownd by a French guy. Met him once, at Alois's wedding, but can't remember his name. The turbo charger waste gates "chirp" when dumping excess boost during shifts and when the throttle pedal lifted during high boost conditions. My Ruf Turbo R used to do it all time...you get used to it.
