Does the SCCA consider the Targa roll bar as acceptable?
Just got back from watching a SCCA hill climb in Pennsylvania. Aside from a 550 Spider replica with the VW engine, Porsche wasn't represented. I think I may join up and compete in another hill climb next month. I can understand the Nomex suit requirement, etc, but I got the impression that "open topped" cars require a roll cage. I understand the the top bar on Porsche Targas is a functional roll bar. Does anyone know what the story is? Perhaps if it is acceptable, I could just get the info to them. Not too keen on a roll cage in my daily driver. Turbo engine swap, maybe. Rollcage? Uh uh...
Thanks... Nicholas

RTFB.....
![]() Read the Freakin' rule book..... All sanctioning bodies are different. Get the rule book and look the targa up. Some say it is a roll bar....others say it is a open car like a cab and you need a roll bar/cage. Others say OK, but you need the top on...like it's gonna give any protection....others say, OK and you need arm restraints....it's all over. Mike Z 83 cab..... |
