Beautiful fab work too.

Has the builder had any other significant Porsche race car ownership/experience? Is this his first total ground up fabrication of a historic race car or has he done others Porsche or otherwise ?

Thanks for sharing !!

He has no race history. Engineer by trade.
He has done rebuild/restoration of 911's
Really focusing on getting all according to spec and to not make any shortcuts.
This, and family with small kids is why this will be a project going over years

Hi,

Fascinating project :)

How will the weight compare with the factory car?

Here are photos of a road converted Derek Bell signature car, the second has some detail which may be of help.

Interesting to see the differences in the chassis.

Here is the nose of 962-170 which is almost the last Porsche 962 chassis produced. They went full monocoque on the nose of it.

You got it :-)

JFairman 02-01-2014 06:15 AM

Rocker arm rear suspension bolted to the ends of those arms and inboard coilover shocks were on top along with an adjustable antiroll bar. That reduced unsprung weight in the rear suspension and got the shocks out of the air stream going through the ground effects tunnels on each side.

Time for some more update on the 962-N001

Rollcage has been partly fitted, and mid section trial fitted.

Now it really starts to take shape :-)

Proj_962_Norway 06-25-2014 12:02 PM

Some of the fiber glas parts are made by Dave Slack and some made by myself /doors Dashboard

wayner 06-25-2014 12:08 PM

962

I have a friend in Fort Lauderdale who is extremely knowledgable about 962's...Prepared many of these cars for race wins.

Kozmo930 06-25-2014 08:39 PM

Please keep posts coming ... these were top of the line race cars in there day , so watching one being built from scratch is inspiring for most of us . The total simplicity yet sophisticated things used for racing has always been something that has fascinated a lot of us .

Thanks for keeping the spirit alive Kozmo SmileWavy
