No clutch

So I fire the 1977 up to take it on spin to smoke the world up and started it in first--damn near took out the garage door.

The car shifts fine off---new purchase that I trailered home.

So, % that it is a slave cylinder, adjustment, stuck disk?

Car sat for several years and of course previous owner said nothing--maybe it is because of the time sitting.

I want to drive it to burn out the oil overfill. Car has 95,000 with little know about it--previous posts tells more.

I'm in Massillon, Ohio 50 miles south of Cleveland

Advice???

OOPs==thinking wrong

So yes there is no slave cylinder---just assuming--dah.

The pedal will not return to the top without pulling it up. There seems to be ample pressure as I engage the clutch pedal. I do hear a squeaky spring when I depress but probably normal for a car sitting for several years.

Is this something that an adjustment may render usable?

Previous owner is not responding--said it drove fine and shufted good when they last drove it.

If the clutch pedal feels normal it's likely the disc is stuck to the flywheel (it can happen over time). If that's the case you can attempt to break it loose. I can't suggest any single method because they're all kind of drastic.

No slave cylinder until the Carrera with the G50 trans.

I used to free up my clutch on my old '55 chevy after sitting by running it in neutral for a while and then when warmed up I would shut it down set the parking brake, hold the brakes down and try starting it. 2-3 times starting and it would break free. YMMV

Yes

As in starting it in gear? Which gear--3rd-4th? Looking to get it freed up and then pulling it in late fall if it makes it that far.

Thanks

Try 3rd gear, the car will do a rolling start in that one. Should be enough torque to bust it loose. Maybe 2nd if no results.
