rubber door stop and sticker question

Two quick questions:
How are these rubber pieces at the top of the door frame attached/how do I remove them?

I found an old post about these stickers but I thought I would check again. Anyone making reproductions of these door VIN stickers?

Thanks

I don't know about the sticker, but the frame stop is held in with two small screws, or at least should be.

Don't lose them as they are NLA

Door Sticker.

You don't want to remove that either.

Not legal to reproduce.

Verrrrrrry expensive to replace from the Porsche folks.

Targa - do you know what the replacement process is? Is it through Porsche?

I looked into replacing the stickers on-line and found that as long as you have a high-res picture of the original there are companies that can and will reproduce it. If you don't have a high-res image of the original you may be out of luck. If you find out more about getting one from Porsche I'd love to hear about it.

I'll look into it. 90% of my car is bare metal, I don't think I can live with leaving a small square of paint in the door frame.

Yes, throught the dealer, and it is quite a process.

Having the original will help.

Good luck,

I took the likely original window channel out of my '66 window frames and don't recall seeing the rubber pieces. It appears from the diagram and picture that they fit in the top channel, correct? How many and what is their purpose? I will be assembling my frames soon.

Jim - the PM was to me about a sticker source, that so far, looks like it is going to work out. I'll post some follow-up when I know more.
My car is a 75 and the black pieces are on the top of the door frame. I don't know about earlier cars. I think their purpose is to keep the top of the door from banging against the car body.

I'm curious about the sticker source. I need a respray done but I don't want to cover my original intact sticker.

What do painters typically do with any/all stickers on a repaint?

There's a guy on the 911S Registry that is reproducing them. I haven't bought one, but they seem to be pretty good replicas.

vin safety sticker for sale.. finally

Carefully remove them and then re-apply.

Problem is these VIN stickers are designed to tear apart if you try to remove them, that is why they have the circular pattern imprinted on them. To try and prevent fraud I guess.

Wow, bugmeat,...I never thought of that. I do know they are somewhat "punched", this would make removal a tricky process......

Mine will be in for repaint, end of year. I will definately cover off on their methodology of preservation (important to me).

I may cross post this in the autobody/paint form and see what those guys have to say.

Interesting footnote, Bugmeat.

BEST!

Doyle

Mine shredded when I tried to remove it with heat gun and razor blade. I ordered one from the above listed link. I'll let ya know how it looks when I get it.
