Torque values
I am going to change the oil and would like to know the torque values for a 1977 2.7 Engine Oil Sump Plate and Oil Tank Drain Plug. They both have washers and I do not want to over tighten.
Also, Bentley does not make a service book for a 1977 911 so what is a good resource book for torque values for the car. I can not afford the shop manuals. Thanks you |

Bentley 911 SC Manual should cover 95% of your car, providing it is CIS injected!
There is also a Small 'Technical Specifications' Booklet you can buy that has all of these values listed. Very handy to have in the glove box. The Torque Value for both the Drain Plugs is 42nm, I could not find any reference to the oil screen cover nuts I just gently tighten them evenly! |

Thank you for the information. I will look into the Booklet. Do you know if you can buy it online?
Thanks again |

You can indeed.
I have searched pelican parts and they dont sem to sell these so a google search for "Porsche 911 Technical Specification(s) Booklet" should throw up some answers there. I don't want to post up a link to Pelican Parts competitors website!!! Last edited by wasserkuhl; 09-14-2012 at 02:21 AM.. |

The Technical Specification booklets are mostly out of print. Every once in a while, some new ones pop up on the market. The one you need covers the 76/77 models and is part number WKD 422 420. A Google search should turn up some for sale. Maybe a search on Pelican using that part number will find one.

Drain plugs = 42 Nm/4.2 kpm x 7.23 = 30 lb/ft
Oil screen cover (6mm nuts) = 10Nm/1 kpm x 7.23 = 7 lb/ft The engine fastener torque list is far more comprehensive in the '78-81 Spec Book than the one in the '76/77 Spec Book.

Thanks Peter! My Carrera 3.0 / Turbo Carrera 76/77 Books doesn't have the oil screen cover specifications.
