Fuel fume venting / charcoal canister
I have been working through the venting aspects of fuel vapour smells after filling up. I have replaced the filler cap, and the hoses surrounding the gas tank inside the luggage compartment and don't appear to have any fuel leaks anywhere. I have also traced a small diameter hose that starts out on what I believe to be the fuel expansion tank in the front left fender well above the windshield washer fluid bottle. It runs the length of the car under the driver's side, and comes to an abrupt end around the rear right wheel. Not stopper or anything else. Also of note, my carbon canister appears to only have two spigots on which to connect hoses (see enclosed picture). One, the larger, seems to simply be a coiled up with a screw in the end, while the other runs to the left side of the engine bay into what appears to be the base of a T connection of vacuum hoses. I have tried to figure it out by using the vacuum hose routing diagram, but my engine doesn't seem to be quite the same - not sure why (wrong routing perhaps?)
Any ideas? Thanks Skip ![]()

look at the fuel system diagram for the correct routing of the hoses. the canister is the last stop of fuel venting till it goes out to atmosphere.
