'81 ROW SC Charcoal Canister

Found the NLA strap that secures the charcoal canister in front of the oil tank but not sure what it attaches to? I ordered the slotted machine screw from Porsche along with the washer and nut and as far as I can tell the strap wraps around the canister, but I don't see anything on the body to attach the strap to. Does the canister just lodge in there?

Would appreciate a photo of an original setup for guidance.

Thanks.

Bad photo, but gives you the idea of where it goes...

Thanks. The strap has holes in the flanges at either end to accept the screw. I can't tell if the screw is supposed to thread into the body, or does the screw help cinch the strap and canister around something?

Hummm... on the passenger side, this is the only thing that is there... a single bracket with nothing attached... I just got this car, so looks like I can't be of much help. Someone else will have to chime in.

What I meant to say... is that in the rear wheel area, I saw nothing that looked like it would hold something...

Here is the rear wheel well, passenger side (and there is nothing but the oil tank on the other side... sorry.

If I am correct.....It lies behind the oil fill pipe in the upper right side of the engine compartment...with you facing the engine .....at least on my 79SC.

Give me an hour and I will remove it and take photos of what is behind it and how it is held in place.

That was my assumption. Its located above the engine tin, not below in the wheel well...

I need to remove the engine and would be no problem to remove the canister and take photos... will do so in about an hour so you can see what is behind it.

Spot welded in place... pretty sure you can use the same epoxy used to glue the door skins and avoid welding...

Thanks Wachuko! I really appreciate the effort! That explains the lack of a hole in the strap.http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1347974487.jpg
