Which Wheel Bearings for Bilstein Sports
Howdy,
I just bought a new set of Bilstein Sport Coilovers. I see that there are two different wheel hub bearings listed in our hosts catalog. Inner and Outers for a Turbo and Inner and Outers for a non-Turbo. I bought and installed the non-Turbo set and it appears to not fit. Now for the question: does anybody know which set I was supposed to have used? Are the Sport shock spindles bigger than a non-turbo car? If so, are they the same as the turbo car? Thanks in advance. Hal

The catalog lists four options actually. There's one from SKF and one from FAG for both the turbo and non-turbo. I know it's a press fit, but the thing barely gives me three threads to get the nut on. It's been years since I've done this but I seem to recall that it gave you more like have the threaded shaft tighten it up. Maybe I've just grown paranoid in my old age. H

abides.

It would probably help to say what year your car is, and be a little more specific about which shocks you bought.

Hello Hal,
I'm guessing here, but the new struts do not include an inner bearing race. You need to take the inner bearing race from your existing strut, and install it on the new struts. Could that be the problem? Ira

911 & 930 use exactly the same wheel bearings from '74 to '89

I sorted it. Also, I learned that you can't just torch them up till they're orange and drop them on. They burn, flake and pit. They must be hardened. So, uh, I bought two sets of them. ![]()
