Roger,
Some years ago I helped my brother put an early 911 5 speed into his bus (I think it was about a '73 westfalia camper?). He also had a 2.0 914 with correct fuel injection in that bus. He was very pleased with the results. I'm not into buses, but I drove it and thought it was remarkably quick for a bus. The extra cog definitely made a difference. At the time I had a full complement of gear ratios on hand, and we picked through them to get him the gearing he wanted. I don't remember any more what we put in it, but he might. I could put you in touch with him if you want. As for your good buy transmission, I think that type number makes it a 70/71 box. This will be for the oddball 2.2 pull type release bearing. The pivot for the throwout arm will be in the wrong place to work with your 215 mm 914 clutch. You probably will need to find a '65-'69 box with a 901/xx type number. DG |

There is another recent post somewhere on Pelican where a guy is trying to adapt the pull clutch 911 gearbox to a push clutch motor. Seems it can be done, but it is not just a simple bolt-in job. You use the TOB and fork lever from the earlier 901 gear box, and relocate the ball pivot. Something like that. You ought to be able to find that discussion. |

Walt's memory is correct, you can revise the clutch release to '69 style.
Your gearbox is A,Ga,O,V,Za. Search using "901/13" as the term and "warren s" as poster and you will find a reference thread of 901 gearboxes and ratios. |
