Help with Color Code Plate on '70 911T

I recently removed the re-spray from the Color Code Plate on my 1970 911T. The Color Code Plate is engraved 2626HC, so the original color was Conda Green. What does the HC signify? Is that the code for the paint manufacturer? Also, just above the Color Code Plate, there is a stamping in the chassis that says M 8. Can anyone tell me what that signifies or means? Thanks, in advance, for your reply.

The M8 signifies the bolt size used in the door hinge

And yes the code after the paint number should be the manufacture, but I don't no HC

Hoyarunner. Do you have any pictures? Is it still the original colour? My 70 911T was originally Irish Green (1515) but was resprayed red. The paint is so good I'll leave it for now but maybe in 10 years I'll put it back to its original colour. From pictures I have seen I prefer the green, looks more distinguished, at least IMHO.

Classic: Thanks, mate. I appreciate the information about the stamping M 8. Perhaps someone else can tell me if HC signifies the name of the paint manufacturer.

Irish911: Sorry, my '70 911T was resprayed white in the mid '80s by the previous owner and made to look like an SC. I'm just beginning its restoration. As you probably know, there are lots of pics of Irish Green and Conda Green 911Ts on the Internet. Apparently, Conda Green is much prized by owners. Any hints on the meaning of HC would be appreciated.

Hi

Don't know HC, but H=Herbol,G= Glasurit and L=Lechler for early cars, later cars used numbers for paint manufacturers.

Haven,t heard of HC but as a long shot in German HC can be used as an abbreviation for Hersteller-code which means manufacturers code

Merci, Barry. I think you are right that this is a code for the paint manufacturer. Curiously, the second line on the Color Code Plate is blank; nothing is stamped or engraved there. Hoyarunner

Twistofatt: Thank you for the information. The HC immediately follows the color code 2626HC and is engraved, just like the four numbers. As mentioned, the second line on the color code plate is blank, with no engraving of any kind. Hope someone else has a definitive answer to this puzzle? Hoyarunner
