911 3.2L 207hp engine stops after 20se.
Hello,
sorry for the bad english...(i'm from germany) I have a big problem with my Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2L 207hp If i start the engin it will stop after ~20sec. immediately, i can restart it but it will stop again after ~20-30sec. If i unplug a Fuel Injector the engine do not stop... ![]() Is the Problem located in the DME with the Injector driver ? Hope someone can help me to fix the Problem. Many thanks Michael |

is it the same injector or just any injector? if it is just one injector, i would say the injector is bad.
the injectors are paired in 2 groups of 3. if any one in a group will keep it running, you may have a DME problem. (based on my knowledge of BMW EFI). if you suspect the DME, i would take it apart and look for a bad solder joint.

It sounds to me like a fuel pressure problem. Is your fuel pump working or is it overly loud.
Könnte ein Benzindruck Probleim sein. Funktioniert deine Benzinpumpe oder ist die Pumpe ungewoehnlich laut(was ein versagen des Pumpes andeutet).? |

Hi Michael -
On my 3.2, the exact same problem was traced to the DME solder joints of the coil driver. The car runs, heats up the transistor, moves it just enough to break the contact and the car stalls. Will restart as soon as the transistor cools. The joints have to be inspected very carefully as the cracks are hard to see even with magnifiers. If you find a crack, just reflow the joint with a soldering iron and a touch of new solder if needed. Remember to keep yourself 'grounded' (touch metal) to avoid static discharge when working inside the DME. Hope this helps, Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 341k miles |

just any injector? yes group one or group 2 if i unplug any injector and only 5 are connected the engin run. Fuel pressure ist good 3bar, i think ist is a problem withe the injetor driver inside the DME but need asistance to fix it, which part can cause the problem the IC S400 0127 or any other part. I have a second DME with the same Problem..... Have any one a instruction to fix the DME injector problem @Chuck, do you have a picture what solders you have re soldered Many thanks to all Michael |

@T77911S not all 6 fuel injectors at the same time :-) i have disconected on and check then next and so one.....
i m located in germany..... Yes 2 DME's with same Problem one is my original and the other is from ebay, it was sold as a defekt part.... The DME (Porsche 911 Carrera 1984 )has only one driver for the 2 Bank's and will inject at the same time. frendly regards Michael |

Both the coil and the injector drivers on the DME stand up on the board, on the heat sinks from my memory.
If you have two DME's with this problem, it sounds like your injectors are drawing too much current. But the physical inspection is easy, and so common that 'perhaps' both DME's have cracked solder joints... Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 341k miles |

I suspect that what happens when you unplug an injector is that the cuurent requirement for the driver for that group goes down by 30% and the driver/associated electronics cool off and work. I.E. with all coils active the current requirement causes the driver to overheat, lessen the current requirement, by removing an injector and it works. Based on this, I would not suspect a bad injector since it doesn't seem to matter what injector is removed from the circuit, but i would suspect the power supply for the coils.
regards, al PS: I know just enough to be dangerous..............

problem still the same...
after soldering all the pins from T402, T404, S400...... the problem isn't gone the engins stops after ~20sec. i meassured the resistance of each injector group, the resistance is 1Ohm per group, i think this is ok. what caused the problem that engine runs only 20sec. ??? resoldering do not fix it Need help....
