Steering Wheel Hub ('64-73.5) Different Spline Count?
Clearing out the garage I collected 3 VDM four spoke steering wheels with two different size spline counts.
#1- is 24 tooth spline w/22mm ID; 400mm wheel (has a steel ring around it) #2- is 40 tooth spline w/20mm ID; 400mm wheel I have a '66 911, '69 911 and a '72+/- 914 and they all take the #2 hub (40x20mm ID) How many different types of spline/hub configurations are there that used the early VDM 4 spoke wheel?? I thank you in advance. pic#1= 24x22mm 400mm wheel pic#2= 40x20mm '69 911 400mm wheel pic#3= 40x20mm '72+/- 914 380mm wheel ![]() ![]()

I think the 911 during all those years was the same.
The look-alike but oddball spline probably is from a 914-4. The 914-6 was the same as 911. Best, Grady

Thanks Grady...the face of the hub is just like a standard 911 hub, no indention where the washer and nut goes...this is also the first one I have seen with the steel ring on the back side.
