Is this CV Bearing Ok?
My CV joint had a ripped boot, but only 17K on it. I took it apart, and here are the pictures.
911SC CV Joint Teardown Is it in good enough shape to just get a new boot, regrease, and use as-is? The only imperfections I found are some small deposits on the outer surface (1403 and 1404) and some small lines of what looks like minor rubbing on some of the ball bearings (visible in all the ball bearing pics).

I would get the new boot, re-pack it with new grease and use it. Looks OK to me, it doesn't appear to have any pitting going on there.

It looks and is almost brand new. Grease it up, slap it back together and get on down the road.
Usually if when you find a torn boot, and the joint still contains a good amount of grease; a quick inspection, new boot, new grease and you're good to go.

Wow that CV looks great. I would guess it has been replaced before. With only 85K miles and good boots mine looked horrible and pitted to hell.
I agree, repack it, new boot, and drive it!!!

There were no gaskets, backing plates, or washers in use. I need to figure out if I need those as well, or just a new boot with integrated flange (Pelican Parts - Product Information: 923-332-037-00-M84.) I'm also not sure if I need new CV joint bolts. The ones I have now are hex, so I don't need a special 12-point driver for them, but I fear they may be too short if the new flange is thicker, or I need to add plates/washers.

Agree those CV pics look fine. Be sure to use a high quality grease. Economy grease is one of the biggest reasons why CV joints fail/wear out.
If you decide to use "moon" plates and serrated washers, you need to increase the length of your CV joint bolts. You can get them in bulk for a great price. I buy them from McMaster Carr in boxes of 25 McMaster-Carr

Where does the full ring (looks like a large washer, not the retaining ring) fit when you reassemble the joint? It fell out as I was removing the balls, and I con't figure out where it goes.

Washer (cupped side towards the CV) goes on after the new boot is slide on and then the CV, followed by the snap ring.
