are those tags with the numbers paper or plastic? It must make the rebuild process easier. Does Pelican sell all their parts that way now?

Wayne,
I have always thought that this 1963 Chrysler ad was one of the most effective ever at fostering their reputation for being an engineering-oriented car company ... and it was the image that came to mind when you posted the 'layout' pic a few days ago ... ![]()

Warren, how many bookcases of books must you have? Chrysler ads, Saratoga top ads, you never cease to amaze me. Don't tell me it's all alphabetized too?!?

That is a very cool ad. I can tell you from experience, that it took a few interns about 3 days to lay everything out perfectly...

Nostatic, I'm going to have perforated tags in the rear section of the book so that you can pop them out and label all your parts...
Finished book - December, B&W copy August. I'm going to put that in my sig... -Wayne

Really nice layout shots!
I wasn't sure what niche you were going for with your new book book Wayne, but I'm starting to see its place in the pantheon of Porsche literature.

Wayne- that looks great! It is that kind of detail that would encourage a novice like me to attempt a rebuild... I can tell you your next book will sell at least one copy.

Well Wayne, looks as though a guy with confident mechanical skills should be able to pick up your book and rebuild his engine, which is what I plan to do towards the end of the year. Is this true?
I like the parts tags and pics ideas, when will it be purchasable, do you know yet?

Wayne,
A suggestion for us novice engine builders. In pictures like this, is it possible to reference the part numbers & locations on the forging / casting for the specific head, cylinder, piston, etc. being used. Then when I am at a swap meet contemplating purchases for my dream engine....... etc. etc. In BA's books one is never quite sure what one is looking at, and I don't have a shop full of reference material to sort through. Just a thought. YMMV, as always..

Pistons and cylinders aren't marked, but heads are, and will have a table with part numbers to match this diagram...

How about a really big centerfold that can be taken out and all the parts layed out on top? That way you can lay out all your parts and just instruct on which numbers to attach to others. Sort of an assemble by numbers. When all the parts are off the fold out, you should be done!
