Got hit Yesterday
God side swiped yesterday, the car has never been in any accident and was in perfect shape, Insurance companies are involved (Nationwide/Allied). Car runs and seems to drive just fine, so it should be only body work.
Curious how bad you guys think it is and if anyone has any good advice on how I should go about it with the Insurance companies, my policy states that the body shop must use OEM parts. I live in Longview, Wa and would be looking for a good body shop anywhere from Portland to Seattle, also anybody suggestions here? Thanks in advance guys, Kellen

Ouch! That's ugly, glad your ok! Looks like you will be getting a new rear qtr panel, signal housing, seals and lens etc.
Beautiful color, hope you get a good painter who can match that paint. That type of paint flops with he angle you are looking at it right? Very important to get it right! Re Ins Co, just make sure she gets repaired 100% to your satisfaction. Others will chime in as there's been a lot of these threads lately... Good luck! Post up when finished.

Marv's Magic Customs, Haury's, and Eurotech Bodywerkes are three good ones up here in the Seattle area.
I got hit in that same spot, and Eurotech did a nice job pulling it all back out (no cutting and welding) and matching the paint. Crunched Fixed by Eurotech

Ouch!
I feel your pain...especially since I've got your car's twin in my garage. As you say though, it looks largely cosmetic. Hang in there.

Really look at the bright side. The panel gaps are very good so the structure isn't tweaked. It isn't what you would have wished to happen but you got out as cleanly as possible.
For great Porsche bodywork I'd call John Walker in Seattle and Steve Weiner in Portland and get their recommendations. They know who is in the business of doing great Porsche work. Also when you settle up with the insurance company don't forget that you have sustained a loss of value because the car is no longer "never in a collision". You can recover that difference in value but it isn't easy.

Try Big E in Burien, can't say enough about Bill and his crew. They are great when it comes to matching aged metallics, and they get the work done on schedule! 206.243.7916. They also smooth out any issues with the insurance company.

That sucks but looks absolutely fixable. Is that a diamond blue metallic commemorative edition? If so I have the exact same car. Have you considered upgrading your rear bumper? If so, now is the time.
![]() Push for a full repaint, if it is diamond blue metallic I doubt even a good shop will ever get the color to match 100% correctly. When I say full repaint, I mean a proper paint job with glass removal, weatherstrip removal, etc. Don't accept a half-assed job.

Your better off having that knocked out than replacing the quarter. Only real devaluation of the car would be that it would no longer be original paint. Right repair will not be noticable. Nice car.

Thanks for all the comments so far guys, they are making me feel much better already. I will try all your suggestions, I have been in contact with both Steve and John Walker before for other matters so I will certainly try them. I will also try the other shops you guys mentioned.
The color is Meteor Grey Metallic I have an insurance appraiser coming to my house tomorrow to do the first assessment, then on from there. Thanks again, Kellen |

Quarter
That's no big deal. Any shop that suggests replacing the quarter is lazy. That can be pulled and worked. As noted earlier, the panel gaps are all good. You even got hit on the best side as you avoided damage to the oil tank. Don't repaint the whole car if it is original. A good shop can match it and it is much better to explain a quarter being painted versus the entire car.

One more thing...
Count your blessings that the center reflector was not damaged as your car has the panel that is no longer available. The only new one you can get is incorrect for your car as it does not have the black PORSCHE script, only the later "ghost" script. I have a perfect one that I have squirled away in case I ever need it.

Agree 100%.
Unless you have someone who knows how to do the job and you are getting the correct replacement panel (i.e., Porsche) I would have just have the dent repaired Probably what is needed is one of those units that spot welds copper/brass studs on the fender and then a slide hammer grips on the studs and you/they can slowly pull the damage out. Harbor freight has them. The stud welder part is nice - the slide hammer is marginal. These tools are great and Porsche steel is easy to weld studs onto then grind off after the panel has been worked. If you would have been hit in that rear corner with the force heading towards the front of the car this would be a whole different ball game. You will come out ok. Quote:
I spilled a bit of paint remover on my original one and have the Porsche "ghost" letter replacement on the car. It looks fine but one of the cool things about the later SC's is the offsetting black detail work on the car. Removing the black rear letters detracts from that. Also, With the newer polishes available there is no way I am parting with the original. I am sure it can be brought back. Now if we could swing a deal with the OP's Transporter in exchange for the rear lens...............

Hey guys, finally got the car back last week and I am very happy with the results.
It looks better than it did before the accident. I ended up going to Eurotech Bodwerkes in Kirkland and and Mark and his gang did a great job with no hassles. He ended up pounding out the original panel and matched all the paint perfect. Thanks again for all your posts guys! ![]() ![]()
