930 struts/trailing arm/brakes to an '86 carrera

i've been looking into the turbo upgrade for the brakes. in the hunt i contacted a breakers for prices and he suggested i swap the suspension and brakes together.

is this feasible and easier?

is it a straight swap?

what parts do i need?

can i use the bilstein inserts (boge struts) and shocks i just installed?

does it matter what years?

anyone done it?

i also have 15" wheels, so is that a problem??

appreciated guys.

The front suspension is a straight swap, here is a pic currently offered over in the Rennlist classifieds,

For a narrow car only the 78/79 front hubs/rotors are useable 80-89 are not. The rest of the front suspension is a bolt on.

The rear 78-89 rear rotors are a bolt on to your suspension.

The 930 banana arms are shorter than the 911 version and are not a bolt on. The mounts where the bananas bolt to the chasis must be repositioned and rewelded in the correct position. This is a non-trivial job!

You will find it much easier to have the calipers modified to fit yor trailing arms than to use the 930 arms on your chassis.

The 930 brakes fit 15' rims radially(barely) but do have clearance issues on narrow cars that don't use the ~1" front and 2" rear spacers of the 930.
heres a pic of a 930 front with a 15"rim

many thanks.

i don't want to be a pain in the ass with these questions, theres just so many damn variables to consider, etc.

seems like the caliper/rotor route is the way to go.

this is a pic of the turbo swing arm adapter from smart racing, getting dummied up on my '87. it keys in on the original bolt hole. these have a camber adjustment that goes thru the rear seat area, so you can move the pivot point up as the car is lowered, so you don't loose the ability to adjust camber. the hole is large for the welding process, and is closed up on completion, save for the adjuster sticking thru. kind of a racing thing, but fine on a street car if you have a rear package shelf instead of rear seats.
