Reverse Updated 70T

I'm wondering what it would take to turn a 70T back to original. It has been converted to a 930 body some time ago using steel fenders/flares (I think). What am I looking at ball park for parts (fenders, quarters, rear deck lid, ??) Thanks!

Why not try some of the Porsche salvage yards? Look in excellence or Pano. I have seen Rob at dC automotive cut out quarters and other parts. Not sure how much long hood stuff he still has available. Good luck. By the way, where are you located? Someone local to you may be able to help.

I just wanted to get a general sense of whether this was worthwhile financially and effort wise vs just buying a 70T project. I'm not looking to make a stock concours 70T out of it just a hot rod. I'm in Canada.

Sell it any buy what you want.

Creating, backdate or not, is almost always more expensive.

After I get my current project completed - my next one is either a RSR or R interpretation. So I would be looking for a car like you have now.

I would sell it and get one closer to what you want, especially if the steel flare mods on your car are done well. I don't think its worth cutting out and redoing again. with that being said, I don't know the condition of the rest of your car.

Good luck, and post what you have decided to do.

Mark

I haven't bought the car yet - just mulling over the possibilities. The car has decent paint, 2.7, 4 speed, decent interior, wide Fuchs, etc. $8k Decent 70T project cars are few and far between or priced much higher when you do see them.

If it already has steel 930 flares, I would think it would be easier to make it into an RSR tribute than bring it back to a stock(ish) narrow longhood. I'm with the others, if you want a more stock looking longhood, start with one (or backdate a mid '70s 911).

For the RSR tribute...I think the hardest part would be turning the front fenders into RSR items. The rest can be done with (relatively) off-the-shelf backdating stuff from TRE (or others).
