78 Carrera Fog Light Switch

How does the damn thing come out?

At a buddies chasing non functional fog lights.

Fog lights work if run straight of power / bypassing switch.

Not registering power coming into fuse block.

Fog light switch illuminates when pulled so it seems to be getting power.

Conclusion is no power coming out of switch or bad connection.

We've tried pulling the switch out the front of the dash, going through the glovebox, pulled the radio, going through the clock.

Can't get to it.

The only thing we can think of is pulling the heater blower and we really don't want to go there.

Someone please tell me the easy way that we've stupidly overlooked.

Have you tested the relay to see if it works? Swap it out with the horn relay to test.

Getting power to the correct terminals at the relay base when operating the switch?

No easy way to get that switch out. With my long arms from the passenger trunk side I can just reach the lighter area. Center Ducting removed....
Arms are too thick to get in through the clock hole...
PITA....

Are the headlights on when you are trying to turn on the fog lights?

Issue has been resolved.

FWIW, the question was not how to troubleshoot them, the question was, is there an easier way other than going through the trunk to get to the switch.

FWIW fog lights work only with headlights on low beam.

It's actually kind of embarrassingly stupid.

ROW cars come with a rear fog.

On US cars the wiring is present, just not the physical lamp.

Seems at some point in time someone swapped the hot lead for the fronts with the rear fog.

Operating the switch to turn on the rear fog turns on the fronts in his car.
