Door latch problem

Hey All,

I am having some weird problems with my drivers door. When I unlock the door and pull the trigger the latch clicks and sometimes will open like 1/4 inch. If I pull the trigger again nothing really happens. If I push the door closed and repeat the process a few times sometimes it will eventually open.

It opens fine from the inside.

I have also found that if I unlock the door, pull the trigger (nothing really happens), then lock the door with the key, then pull the trigger again the door opens (the lock nub is down in its hole). If I close the door again it is locked. This routine seems to work everytime???

Anyone have an idea what might be going on?

The trigger is probobly worn out and needs to be replaced. It seems our host no longer carries the replacement part. I had purchased one when Pelican carried them and the quality was low, as can be seen by the Reviews tab in the link. You will have to source it elsewhere.

Hi. I had the same problem when I bought my car. It was found during first inspection. Body shop guy told me to take the door apart (as per Pelican tech article) and lube everything. I used WD-40. Works perfect now. Stuff just gets dry after 27 years! Nick

Ok I will give that a try when I have some more time to pull the door apart.
