Steam tint removal -- awesome!
Thanks to all here who suggested using steam to remove old window tint; this weekend I picked up a $20 hand steamer from that bed bath beyond place, and pulled off all 5 windows of tint in an hour.
There is no 'technique' or apparently any way to screw this up. Start steaming a corner, lift it with your fingernail, and pull the tint off as you heat up the edge. If you can work from the bottom up it goes even faster as the steam rises and pre-heats the top. I didn't have one trace of glue left when I was done, and my tint had been on for 20 years. In the end it really protected the glass all those years, now the windows look new! Chuck.H '89 TurboLookTarga, 341k miles |
