Window Trim - Gloss/Satin/Matte?
Easy question: Was the window trim around the the 80s 3.2L Carrera's in gloss black or something like matte black?
Plan on masking off my trim later this week to freshen it up a bit - but it's so faded I can't tell the original finish. Also what about the door handles? Mine look almost grey so I can't tell if they were just a matte black or something with more shine. Thank you! ![]() PS pictures are welcomed if you've refreshed your trim yourself in the past.

It was matte black. Same colour as on the Targa Bar if you have one.

They were a very low gloss matte black, the window surrounds, Door frame, window trim and door handles.
Matte black doesn't look right so just a very small amount of gloss sheen makes the correct. |

Just painted the faded black anodized trim pieces on my '80SC. Used Rustoleum 7777 Satin Black, and they look perfect! It gave them just the right sheen and it is tougher than hell. Just do really good prep, two coats of paint, but let cure at least a day between coats.

Paint shops sell a "trim black" paint now. The same paint used on new cars for B pillars etc. I think it looks perfect.

+1 on the Satin black. Much better match than matte or flat.

I removed the parts that I could easily remove, but some parts I did in situ because removal wasn't practical. Just mask off in situ parts real well and be very careful to not apply to much paint at a time or you'll get runs. Rustoleum 7777 is great, but some others have used the Wurth Satin Black or Krylon Satin Black. I prefer the 7777.

I used the "Wurth Satin Trim Paint" and it worked great.
I put it on the fresh air grill in the front, the rear grill, some of the door trim parts and the rear window seal trim. It makes a world of difference for the appearance of the car. Masking the rear window trim took me like half a day, though. Planning to do more.
