Installing engine sound pad in early 911
I want to install a new engine sound pad in a 72S. I don't want to drop the engine.
What advice and experience can you share on accomplishing this? |

DO a partial engine drop clean out the old pad. Slide the new pad in place. Spray some adhesive on the pad and metal let dry. Glue in place. Use the heavy pad.
Look in the technical section to find the "partial engine drop" procedure.

Sounds simple enough. I will likely not undertake this for several weeks when I get some more time so I will look for additional comments and experience. Thanks

On my '71T with Webers, I removed the air cleaner. covered the carb throats with heavy duty saran wrap, and had plenty of room to clean out the old, glue in the new.
If you have fuel injection it may not be as simple. To remove the old pad I used a 1" wood chisel and, where necessary, a rubber mallet. Very effective.
