Installing short hood/ fenders on 69 911 what do I need

I am installing a short hood, fenders, and fiberglass bumper on a 69 911t. I have the fenders, bumper and the hood is on it's way. When I installed the fenders and tried installing the bumper I noticed the front innerstructure is too long. I was planning on using hood pins and wasn't too concerened about the latch location. Does anybody have any suggestions on what I should do or have any of the parts I need? If I have to replace the innerstructure I would like to use the latch. I also have a long hood, S bumper with trim, rough door shell's, possible innersructure, fenders, and a 78 SC valence with fog lights for sale. Thanks, Mark

Here's what you do:

Find someone with a later car that has the short hood and fenders. Trade them.

There are lot's of poeple who would love to trade you for a long hood car.

And that way you don't devalue the car you own.

I think the car origionally had A/C, but I got the car cheap and I'm not really concerned about the value just creating what I want. But I would be more than happy to trade for a 74 up car with power nothing, no emissions, and weighing 2000 lbs.

There are people who would probably 1-to-1 trade you on a 74+ for what you have- those cars are really a shame to forward-date and a bit of a PITA as well.

i cant beleive that you are going to change your 1969 car from a long hood to a short bodied 74 and up. you got to be the dumbest person i know! i would never modify or change a car, doing this will more than likely make the car worth nothing. i knew a guy that took a older mustang that was a restorers dream and cut it up because he bought it cheap and wanted to make a drag/street car out of it. this car was a factory a/c car and was loaded with options. after it was said and done he was still not ashamed of what he did. this guy sounds a whole lot like you trying to butcher a nice car. hell i wouldnt even worry about the hood latch, just weld it up solid. spend the money on another car and restore your 69 and reap the profits when you sell it. i might be interested in those fenders you have since you dont need them. how about $50.00 for the pair, hell i just give you $150.00 for everything!

That's a bit harsh Slammed. It is afterall his car. While I personally prefer the early cars over all the 911 styles, even the 993, I think he should do what makes him happy.

I would have to agree that trading or selling and rebuying would be most cost effective. It seems however that Rudy has racing in mind. (The 69' cars are the lightest of all the production 911's) I think you could however take a 74' and strip it down to comparable weight. A plus is that it would also have alluminum trailing arms.

To put the short hood on the early cars does envolve replacing the latch panel with a later one and welding it in.

Question: Which is aerodynamically preferable?
1. Early car with airdam.
2. Later car with airdam.

My guess would be the early car.

My question is still not answered. Better not replace any of those rusted out pannels, then your porsche won't be origional anymore. It's just a car, it doesn't have feelings. Just be glad it doesn't have a sparkely bass boat paint job, 20" gold wheels, an 8' tall aluminum wing, and an angry bumble bee muffler. I'm supprised any of the aftermarket body companies are still in business. I'm painting the car this weekend myself. Don't be upset that I'm going to have a 69 that looks like a 89 that runs and drives for less than $4000 total. I'm doing all the work myself because it's my car. I'll put some pics next week so every one can see it. Hey slammed1000 I've got some 17x10's you interested? Oh thats wright you were wanting to put Boxter spare tires and wheels on your car.

Rudy,
The front of the chassis has to be cut and a panel from a later car has to be welded in. I thought I made this clear but maybe not. The best source would probably be a dismantler. they can just cut the part off a wrecked car for cheap. You can also check the parts for sale ads for people parting out their cars. I don't believe anyone sales this part as there is not a lot of demand.
