Where to put temperature probe?

I just bought a digital temperature monitor from Radio Shack so I could tell how hot it was outside. But the problem is, where should I locate the probe to get the best reading?

I was looking through my manual on my Caravan to get some idea where Dodge puts it but it doesn't go into that detail, so I leave it to the board for the answer.

Oh yeah, forgot to mention it's going in the Carrera...of course!

Cheers,

Joe

That is a tough one. In the engine compartment=heat. In the cab=heat multiplication. Under the front end=probably most accurate but wind chill when moving.

MOST AUTO MANUFACTURERS PUT THEM IN FRONT OF THE A/C CONDENSORS OR ATTACHED TO THE FRONT BUMPER ON THE INSIDE. JUST PUT IT IN FRONT AND OUT OF THE SUNLIGHT. ALSO WINDCHILL IS NOT A FACTOR UNLESS YOUR PROBE HAS SKIN AND A HEARTBEAT .

Thanks for all the help, I knew I could count on you guys for the answer.

I think I'll tape it somewhere behind my front valance, probably by one of my fog lights.

Cheers,

Joe

You should keep your probe dry (in this case). A wet probe will experience wind chill (evaporation).

Behind the front bumper is ideal.
