What the Fuchs?

OK I'm looking at getting some fuchs for my 1969 911 E.

I was thinking about getting 16 by 6 for the car.

What is a reasonable amount I should pay for a set of 4?

I'm not hung up on getting a set of 15 by 5.5 that cost an insane amount.

IMO, 16" wheels (especially) 16X6 look terrible on an early car. If you want a better set of wheels on they cheap I'd reccommend 15X6 ring-type center cap wheels. These can be had in driver condition for about the same price.

Just my $0.02

Good luck with your search.

I usually pay no more than $250 per wheel. Sometimes as little $150.

The advantage of 16" wheels is that you you can use lower aspect ratio tires(50 or 55) and have the same height and widths. I don't think they look that bad.

Really? I like how my car looks with 16x6 Fuchs and 205/55-16 tires:

With stock torsion bars I delevoped a rear inner fender rub.

After consultation with Jeff Gamroth (Rothsport Road and Race) and Steve Weiner I went to Turbo T-bars (21 mm front/26 mm rear) to reduce squat and roll. I had Rothsport do a decent lower/align/corner balance during which they discovered a bent banana arm (which was replaced). I no longer have any more issues.

I don't think the 16s look bad, but 15s definite look better imo. Flat 6s aren't too expensive.

Is 1500 bucks way out of line for deep 6"s with hearts?

Depends on condition. If they're drivable, that's a fair price.

OK, the wheels are not deep 6" the are for a 76 car, but the wheels are very drivable.

I have a 1969 is getting deep 6 critical or not?

$1500 for '76 dated 6" wheels is on the high side unless they are PERFECT (never installed perfect).
Deep 6 wheels are correct for a '69. They are only important if you want period correct wheels. If not, any 6X15 Fuchs is going to fit and work on the car.

Good luck with your search. For quick reference, wheels dated prior to '73 are going to be worth more than post-'73. The earlier wheels take 3-prong center caps and are more desirable, but otherwise all 6X15 Fuchs are the same quality and spec.

OK, thanks for everyone's input.

I picked up a set of 4 14 by 5.5s for about a grand. They need to be refinished but they look to be in good shape.

Two are 1969's like my car one is 1968 the other is a 70. Still when I get them done and the guy I'm using is very good with Fuchs they should be worth 2000.

Does that sound about right?

Came on 911Es as part of the "comfort" package, also came on the 914-6 & 76 912E. They would be fine.
