Seat height?

As some may know from reading my previous posts I have acquired a 1984 Carrera, with a sunroof. The dilemma is, head clearance, my ginormous melon, stuffed with rocks is close to the sunroof. Getting a seat that is 1-2" lower would give me more clearance. So which seat is closest to the floor? My seats are manual.
Ideas?
Eric

remove the sliders and mount the seat directly to the floor brackets, may require some fab

Hello,
I have an 87 with a sunroof and I am 6'3. My car had a power driver's seat and this raises the seat approximately one inch higher than the passenger seat. Here is what I did:

I ditched the driver's power seat and one inch high spacers on the passenger seat. I moved most of the hardware on the passenger seat (such as seat belt stuff) to the opposite side and made the passenger seat my driver's seat. Then I picked up another almost perfect passenger seat to be my new passenger seat. I was recovering the seats, so color did not matter.

I picked up a little over an inch of height, lost a bunch of useless weight--the driver's power seat is a boat anchor, and made my car more utilitarian and nimble. All of this was done without taking some drastic method like cutting the seat rails or taking out the sunroof. I think it is the perfect solution.

Cordially,

Greg

Eric,

I was just cleaning up my floorpan the other week - here is a picture of the seat brackets from my 84 for reference that might be helpful if you haven't taken the seats out yet. I'd guess you could probably do as suggested above and do some fab work to lower them or bolt the seats directly to the floor - haven't done it myself - but thought this picture might be helpful with showing you how much could potentially be gained.

The only problem as I see it, is that lowering the driver's seat you'll have to re-located the ECU / Motronic box... as the seat will probably hit it if you lower the mounting brackets.

good luck.

thanks for the flicks Derek! My question/quest is to determine the seat pan with the lowest height. Rather than remove the sliders to gain 3/4", I thought that researching the OEM seating options might be easiest. I cannot imagine that I am the only one with seat height issues.
Thinking out loud.....
