Chris, you have always been such a magician. Looking forward to another stroke of brilliance.
So what are you thinking on interior this go around? I would love to see a stripped down all business, but then you did say daily driver... Looking forward to the updates. |
let me live vicariously through you for a while, paint it olive green...
|
Looking great Chris... I'll enjoy watching the transformation

I could tell something was in the works even from way over here on the other coast. You had been quiet for far too long! |
Thanks guys. Yes, too many projects and not enough time to post them on the forums. I'll try to change my ways ;)
The exterior color has been selected, olive green is close. The plan is to use the extra gallon of paint I have left over from my old '67 and then tint it so it is several shades darker. I have also picked the interior colors. I don't want it stripped down as I want it to be a comfortable place to be and have it overwhelm the senses...touch, sight and smell. The motor handles the sound :) Ironically we just got back front he women's department of Macy's... That is where I had to buy the material for the seat inserts.... I'm just thankful my girlfriend offered to go buy the skirts for me...and she used a coupon! A surprise for later but it is VERY cool! Sometimes you need to think outside the box! |
Cool project Chris. Nice daily driver with retro vibe and modern engine/management. I like it.

Looking great can you tell me more about how you changed up the lips on the rear quarters and post more pics? Eye candy is always welcome. LOL.

Fun to watch
|
You make this stuff look so easy.
|
It always looks easy when you take a bunch of time and condense it into a dozen photos ;)
|
Chris, I have always felt that you and I were cosmically linked when it came to tastes, but friend, your trip to Macy's might be taking you down a path...

Have no fear...the seats will be uber cool!

Damn dude, +11111 on all the comments above - you are truly gifted in your skills and fearless when it comes to tackling repairs most of us would run the complete opposite direction from... Great job so far and best of luck!
|
can you summarize your plans for the interior?
|
I'm still working on the details so I would rather not let the cat out of the bag yet. I need to get the paint dialed in first and then I can start picking out the leather .

I would really love to see more photos of the flares - these and any others you may have or know of.
I am going to be starting on my '71 hotrod project soon. It has stock narrow body flares, and I want to massage them to give a more rounded look and to provide clearance for 8" fuchs with 245/50 series tires. My thought is to round out and extend the outer flat portion of the flare with hammer and dolly also rolling the lip outward in the process to provide more metal. I would then weld in a stout wire on the inner edge to provide strength. Any thoughts or suggestions? I want a more rounded custom flare that give the room needed but remains as subtle as possible. Really tight work, Chris. Can't wait to see more.

I saw a teaser pic of this car a few months ago. I love where this is going, and I can't wait to see the additional work done to it.
|
Not much progress for a week or so due to work but looking forward to some progress!
Her are some shots of the flares as requested. Terry, you won't be able to stretch the metal that far without making it very thin and weak. Your best bet is to run some 7R wheels with a 215 or 225 tire but a 245 is wishful thinking. http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...DC7281E97C.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...DC705F7202.jpg http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...DC6DD486A5.jpg |
Great work as always Chris...You have energy and talent....I didn't see this car in Burien a year or so back, did I?
