Minor Transformation....

Thought I would share with my fellow Pelicans where I'm currently at with my continiously evolving '80 RoW non-sunroof SC. It has been a faithful daily driver since I bought it 17 months ago, including our brutally hot AZ summers. I have fixed or replaced so many things on the car that I don't wish to bore anyone, but let's just say I've probably paid for at least one semester of college for Wayne's kids!!

So this is where it was when I purchased it with turbo tail, US spec bumper blocks, sugar scoop headlights, black centered wheels, fogs, etc.

The engine compartment was complete with factory A/C, heater blower and air pump.

This is how it looks today.
I replaced the turbo tail with a duck tail, the sugar scoops with Euro H4's, the US bumper blocks with Euro spec blocks and replaced the red taillight lenses with amber tail light lenses.
I striped the paint from the front and rear bumpers and valances, filled the front license plate holes on the valance, and had them resprayed when the duck tail was painted. I also replaced all the bumper accordians that had seen better days.
I refinished the wheels with semi-polished petals and repainted the black recesses in semi flat paint.

Under the new duck lid, I've backdated the heat and updated the A/C

Through all the upgrades, maintainance, and fixes, it was only out of service for 1 week while I was having parts painted. I even did the whole A/C replacement in 1 weekend!

I've enjoyed just about every minute working on and driving the car. It is evolving into the 911 that I had always wanted. I took a page from the Jeep mantra that I have followed for many years: It's not what you buy, It's what you build!!

Very Nice! I have been toying with the idea of a Ducktail for some time. Seeing how nice your car looks I've made up my mind to do it. Enjoy
