Transmission fluid for 89 g50 carrera

Has anyone had experience with Brad Penn 75-90 fully synthetic gear oil or the Royal Purple 75-90? I went to look to see what the local autozones had and all they carried was the Mobil1 75-90 LS and the Royal Purple 75-90. I was amazed that the Royal Purple was about $18/quart and the the Mobil 1 at $10. Any suggestions? I did go back and read the info on the Trans fluid and seems the consensus was the Mobil 1. Thanks for any suggestions. I am using the Swepco 201 in the 901/911T. Steve

Mobil1 Delvac. Can be purchased from Charles Navarro's website. Recommended for the G50 by a strong majority. Don't know anything about the BP gear oil, but I've heard of several using Royal Purple and being happy with it. I don't think you could really go wrong with any of 'em.

Kidrock,
Curious as to what part of West Texas you are in. I grew up in Midland and get back there on a semi-regular basis.

My 89 G50 has been very difficult getting into first whenever it was not fairly warm, and after researching on Pelican, I changed to Kendall Gear Oil API GL-5 SAE75w-90 with limited slip additive (three star I believe). The shifting ease is remarkably better with Kendall--no doubt about it and I wish I had the knowledge to change out the fluid a year ago (3,500 miles ago) when I acquired the 911.

More and more Pelicanites are turning to the Kendall for their G50's. Where did you purchase it?

BP in my G50

I have it in mine, seems to work fine. All the "spec" numbers are same as the kendall as I remember. Using the 75-90 fully synthetic hypoid gear/blower racing lubricant as its called. Part number is 7766-023 in quart bottles.
I have no reference points for whats "better". I may change over to the kendall this winter and see if I notice any difference after 2 years with BP. My second gear is a bit difficult after 200k + miles if I don't double clutch so would be interesting to see if that improved.
I've got a Brad Penn distributor close by but they couldn't get quart size gear oil. I bought mine via Amazon as about 50% more money for 4 quarts. Quarts of reg. BP racing motor oil are amazingly in-expensive there (much better than discount stores).

I used both the RP max gear and Delvac and will be going back to RP. The Delvac feels like it takes forever to warm up and the 1 -2 shifts are brutal, like shifting a semi in the morning. The RP is much more forgiving and my G50 felt more relaxed with it.
I have not tried the Kendall oil yet.

I do not recommend Delvac for anything but track driven vehicles. It contains none of the friction modifiers that you find in the factory fill PTX Mobilube. Delvac is a phenominal track oil with great high temperature properties. But it is thick and sticky when cold.

Any of the oils being discussed are acceptable oils for your G50. I refrain from engaging in the great gear oil debates and refuse to name any one single oil the "best" or just endorse an oil. Personally, I run Swepco 201 in my daily driver. It is not a G50, but it has Borg Warner synchros just like one. I've never understood why people say you cannot use Swepco in a G50. Lots of my customers use it in their G50s and their 944s, many of them in racecars. I see no issue there.

I used this "Kendall 80W-90 GL-5 NS-MP Hypoid Gear Oil" from our host this summer. Shifts nice once it's up to temperature. A little notchy when cold but warms up pretty quick. No complaints here. (146k on tranny for reference).
