Color code mystery
I went to my local car paint store and had some cans made up to match the color of my car. They went off the plate code rather than doing a match.
As you can see its not right. Either it was resprayed a different color to enhance the backdating, or the shop mixed the wrong color. What is the color code of my car? Its an 85 but im guessing the respray was from the late 70s? Mismatch..... ![]() Color plate ![]() Car in a better light.... ![]() |

Paint looks correct on the test strip.
Color-Online Use the drop down list under Color Name and find the irisblau met and that will bring up three instances of the color. The Porsche code is 33P and there is a swatch. However, the paint near the factory sticker and manufacture plate sure looks original (no masking lines) and it has the color of the body - at least the same darkness of blue (i.e., not very)

You do have to be careful matching to the paint found inside the trunk such as under the decal since it was lightly painted in that area, and the color will be somewhat lighter in shade than a fully painted part. Paint exposed to the sun will also fade over time, and clearcoat can yellow.

I took the filler cap off my car and gave it to the paint shop so they could match it.
The paint was perfect and they mixed it from scratch. They told matching old paint from a formula is almost impossible.
