Sure is hard to find a used dash in great condition

WOW! I thought I would have heard back from many email sends regarding my interest in getting a used dash (in great condition) for my 89 paint/restoration project. NOTTA.......nothing....new one sure is expensive.

I'm not up for having my dash recovered. Period. I'll resort to buying a brand new one, if this is my last course of action.

Does anyone here know of someone who actually repairs these pressed, formed factory dashes? Makes them look (factory) new again? Someone had mentioned a PANO ad that spoke of such a repair process (source) but I can't find it. Can't these be repaired to look Factory again? Or, is this wishfull thinking?

My dash has several cracks and I wish to make it good again.......cannot find any used ones WITH NO CRACKS.

I'll take any recco's from the experts out there.

I've posted in the WTB forums here and many other places,....thought I'd just hit the tech forum on this one. I'm always amazed at what can show up here! Good stuff,..good people!

I covered my with alcantara - not that hard to do, and a MUCH better look than the stock vinyl IMHO, and no glare.



I kept going with the alcantara theme, and covered the door panel top pieces, and the rear side top pieces - looks great with the RS door panels. I'll get some pics soon of my RS-style interior refresh.

There's a company in LA that form fits 911 dash boards the price was about $600.00.

Doyle: You might give Just Dashes a call.

From what I've heard (no personal experience), their work is top-notch. I've also heard that you should be prepared to wait a LONG time to get it back, as they are seriously backlogged.

To answer your original question, there are no good used ones around because everyone with an early Porsche has the same problem you do... a cracked dash. The options available are pretty much covered above, except maybe the CoverKing product offered by our host. Anyone here have any pictures of those? I'm intrigued but would love to see what I am buying on a real live car before trying it.

why not recover it...good piece of vinyl or leather, heat gun and some patience and you can do it yourself...whats the worst case...you waste a piece of material and a little time...

I'd give Partsheaven New, Used, Rebuilt Porsche Parts a call and see what they have. Sometimes you may get lucky and come across a wrecked garage queen.

I bought a new dash for my SC. It was $700 back then. I think now it is NLA or nosebleed pricing. (Not that $700 didn't sting already).

It's not hard to find just expensive.

I may sell my perfect one or trade plus $$$$$ as I am going to cover in alcantara and it seems a shame to cover a perfect one.

I believe 9apart will sell you one for about 900
