Same here... Almost unusable as some pages take minutes to load, especially the ones from earlier today or yesterday as if the system had to go get them from secondary storage. Cache problem?

Seems like Pelican suffers from this frequently!

Frustrating and takes away from the users experience...

Brings me back to the days when I had a 9600 baud modem...... i.e. step out of the room for a while while the page loads..take a dump etc...

And it is not "my pc"

Every other website I visit paints the screen almost instantaneously.

I know we have a good thing going here however, I think our host needs to look at a possible server update and or more bandwidth for the forum. I think the sales in on a whole different system which runs great.

Wayne may only be able to get so much bandwidth at his home?

I think I'll stop complaining about a free forum that got slow for a bit and get some work done instead...
I guess we have become addicted!

Wayne, I appreciate all you do to give us this Forum. I was unable to log on at all yesterday till about 5PM. It was good since it inspired me to install the parts I recently purchased, and to adjust the parking brakes. Thanks for working so hard to keep things running.

Thanks Wayne.

I have to go in and black-list a few third world countries because of all the spam I was getting attacked with on my site. A lot of them are just looking to hijack your severs band with for their of stuff.

Also can block "IP's" that are causing you trouble but it's time consuming.

I've blacklisted Russia, China, Pakistan, and the Ukraine currently.

When I mean a lot of spam, I mean 100 spambots trying to sign up and register within one minute. So, it's almost like a Denial of Service attack in some respects. I suspect that has something to do with some of the server slowdowns unfortunately.

I'm planning for new hardware in 2013!

Wayne,

Thank you very much for the feedback.

It's a shame that SO MUCH effort has to go into keeping the "losers" out of your site. They sure mess things up for all of us. As you have noted, most of them are abroad. They love using your server/bandwidth to promote their products.

My wife has a internet site and it's a constant battle keeping them out.

Good luck,

Ron
