Sticky Speedo

My speedo works, but usually needs a flick to do so. Otherwise it just gets stuck at the bottom showing no speed.

As soon as I go over 5mph if I flick it jumps into life. Anyone else have this problem and if so is there a simple solution (other than keeping on flicking it!).

Thanks.

A.

Check the simple things first.

Remove the gauge carefully by pulling out the clock then reach in and push the speedo out. Take care the wires are short.

Clean and polish all the contacts. The ground tend to be the culprit here.

Test. If still not working properly

Open the shift coupler panel at the rear of the tunnel at the back seat foot wells. Disconnect and Clean the contacts with contact cleaner from any flaps. When reconnecting make certain they are seat all the way in.

Test. If still not working properly

Raise the passenger side check the transmission signal contacts are clean and tight.

Test. If still not working. Then it may be the a loose green wire/s or broken solder on the green signal wire within the gauge like what I found. This requires the gauge to be taken apart, not for the faint of heart. re-soldered. All Good.

Hope this helps.
