Spring plate help

Hi
Any suggestions on how to get the bushing off of a spring plate. I have tried cutting, sawing (hacksaw) and while I have gotten some of the old bushing off I still have a long way to go!
Thank you in advance for any suggestions.
Tim

Clamp spring plate in vise, heat bushing with a torch until it smokes, grab with a large pair of channel locks and twist off. I think elephant racing had a video on their website with the procedure.

so that tool is cool - but a hot knife will cut in along the seam and do about the same thing - you want to get the knife or hot metal stick, screwdriver between the rubber and metal all the way around

Just have to keep going...takes some time...once you get most of it, get a 4" grinder with a wire wheel and get the rest cleaned off...

Not my idea, saw it in another post when I went through this, get a cheap chisel keep it glowing form the torch and it cuts through the rubber pretty easily. I then used a wire wheel to clean it to bare metal.

I use a rosebud tip on my oxy/acetylene torch. Clamp it in a vise, heat the inside of the spring plate where the torsion tube will go. Tune oxygen to burn clean once the inside grease burns off. Keep the torch moving. When you start to see a whisp of smoke, grab the bushing with a welding glove and twist. it should rotate free and slide right off. Do both inside and outside while the spring plate is still hot. Then a wire wheel will easily clean off the very thin residue.

Pretty easy once you understand the process.

Trying to do it cold would take forever. As stated above, I heated the inside of the tube with a MAPP torch until the rubber just started to smoke. My neatrix bushings came with a cheapie chisel-like tool that fit perfectly, run it around, and twist and pull off.
