964 AC unit in 911
I searched, and feel like it's probably not even worth looking at, but what about the 964 AC unit in the 911? Are there too many changes to the tub of 964 for it to physically fit in the 911? Saw a unit on ebay for the 964 and got me thinking as I have the whole AC to figure out anyway. Anyone seen or thought about it?

But I mean the under dash unit. Our cars have the evaporator in the smuglers box and the 964 might too but I just don't know?

I am doing it on my 6 speed Carrera project, not yet completed, but here is the link....
Fitting 6 speed G50 to '89 Carrera And yes, I am doing the hard way both with the sheet metal modifications and use of hard A/C lines under the drivers sill. Dennis |

Your guys, Not the condenser, but the evap system. Ours uses the smuglers box. Does the 964 have a system that fits under our dash/ in the front trunk and would make a better option?

I looked at the evaporator set up and it is possible, but not without major work. There is a lot of other stuff in there that would need to be adjusted and my conclusion was that, while it is better than the early unit, at some point you just need to go buy a 964.
Now I have never gotten into detail measurement, but I have worked extensively on a friends 964 and saw all the parts that would need to be changed/relocated and decided it was a bridge too far. Dennis |

If nothing else, the 964 has air passages for the oil cooler on the passenger side and AC on the drivers side and the bumper set up is quite different. D. |

Won't fit ! A friend built a custom 911 speedster using the center section of a 964 spliced into the 911 shell so he could install the 964 a/c. MAJOR work
