In a recent post (last week), someone mentioned having a slight shudder when starting from a dead stop. A possible remedy for this was to adjust the clutch cable. Someone also mentioned that the engine and/or tranny mounts could be bad. How does a person determine if an engine and/or tranny mount is defective with the engine still in the car? Visual inspection? I have a slight shudder when starting out and want to look at the possibilities this weekend. Thanks in advance.

check for loose engine to trans nuts also. hard to tell if replacing the rubber mounts will help, but it may, in about 1% of the cases. the vast majority of shuddering problems are related to oil on the disc, or the flywheel, or p/plate being somewhat warped. a new clutch cable occasionally fixes it, too. it needs to have sufficient bow forced into it, in the area between the firewall, and the mounting point on the trans, so it clears the throttle bellcrank.
