I finally joined the club!
After lurking here for some time and fueled with the dream of a Porsche project, I finally purchased my first 911. I am very happy!!
![]() It started out as a 1977 911S, and at some point in time the original motor was swapped with a 3.2L. Overall, the car is in good condition and runs great. Lots of things I need to address though, for example the most pressing things are the inop gauges(tach, speedo are dead). Also, the motor doesn't like to turn off, even when you remove the key. ![]() I am going to search the forum for troubleshooting info for the gauges. I look forward to becoming a part of this community and after I learn a thing or two, will give back whenever I can. ![]()

Congrats, nice looking car. You're in the right place if you're looking for parts and answers to questions regarding 911's. Good luck and keep us up to date on your progress.

I remember thinking this one looked like a good hotrod project when seeing it on ebay. Good luck with it.

Looks nice, when you are ready to dig into the gauge problems shoot me a PM.
My initial guess would be the wiring configuration from the swap. Post a picture of the rear fuse panel area with the cover off (if it is there).

Nice car. In a way the best of both worlds: the classic looks of a mid-year (but post-galvinzation!) with the longevity of the 3.2 motor.
Best of luck getting the (fairly minor, I would think) electrical issues sorted out. |

A light car with a big engine should be lots of fun, and the color is great. Good luck and don't hesitate to come here with questions.
I also use the forum search a lot - many problems have already been asked and answered.

Nice car. Just have a bottle of yer favorite liquor handy when you dive in, as I suspect all the stated issues are wiring and it won't be pretty.

Is that a sunroof delete coupe? Looks tasteful to me - nothing you cannot work out with the help of this 'Board. Welcome!

Great color! Some 6" & 7" Fuchs would look great on it! Good luck and welcome.

Thanks Josh. Fuchs wheels are definitely in this car's future. My initial goal is to address all the functional things first like the electrical issues and "hopefully" do the work myself with guidance from this forum. I am also thinking about a new shifter, it is really loose (slop). Probably new bushings for the shift coupler as well.
I plan to keep the narrow body as is, no flares. But I "may" add a ducktail at some point...

Been wondering since my '77 911s has a 3.2L motor, there is a chance that there is also a g50 transmission. Any easy way to tell??

If you can (speed-shift with the throttle full open) the car from first to second without damaging your gears (or at least having the gearbox protest with a loud grinding noise) than it's probably a g50.

Thanks for the info. By the shift pattern it is definitely a 915 then...
