Weltmeister or Fabspeed airbox for 911 SC?

Anyone have a 911 SC and try the Weltmeister or Fabspeed aftermarket air box (cover)? is it worth the $$? Does it really improve performance?

Any advice would be appreciated.

I looked into this with a few searches and most posts/opinions didn't show any improvement. Porsche spent some time and $ researching their air intake system...think rain...
But they do look cool...

No. I was at a tech session once and the subject of air filters (e.g. K&N) came up and their "performance" potential. One tech session presenter (a guy who knew what he was talking about) said they dyno'd a bunch of different air filters on an SC one day just for the fun of it and none of them made any more horsepower than the factory air filter. In fact, he said they removed the air fitler completely and the engine didn't make any more horsepwer.

There's no way in the world an airbox cover is going to increase horsepower.

that's what I'm talking about!

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. Cool looking with the carbon fiber and all, but WTF!

Fabspeed Airbox Cover

I just purchased a Fabspeed Air-box Cover through our host. The air-box cover was dropped shipped from Fabspeed. I can't say that I think it was worth the money though. It sounds cool when you are really accelerating, but I can't see any other advantages of having it. I'm not discarding my stock cover for fear that this new Fabspeed will warp or crack. It is really thin and seems cheap to me.

+1 on the above. Claims of increased HP from cold air intakes, K&N filters, etc have been debunked out there on the internets.

Save your money and get SSIs - those DO have some HP benefit.

I know, they've been sold to Dansk.

just buy a cheap OE one and swiss cheese or hack all but the outside lip off. thats what i did for late spring and summer driving, then just put your nice unchacked one back on when its wet or car wash time.
