Torsion bars: are used bars risky?
Hi all. Here's another question: I'm looking at a pair of torsion bars to replace my anemic 23mm. They were pulled from a 911 with 40,000 miles. They're a good thickness (28mm) and well priced, and the owner says there's "not a scratch on them." Should I be wary? What should I worry about and/or look out for? And will the ride quality be too stiff on city streets?
Thanks in advance for your insights. |

A torsion bar is a pretty simple part. It's susceptible to corrosion, but I've never heard of much in the way of metal fatigue, at least not after 40,000 miles. I'd say if there are no signs of rust or other damage, they'll be fine for a good long while.
