Stoopid Human Tricks #9273

I'm still chasing a brake pulling issue, so I decided to 'excercise' the pistons on the rears - I'd already done the fronts.

I was using a block of wood as a 'pad' so the pistons (930 4-piston calipers) could come out a good distance, then I'd clean 'em up and push 'em back.

On the second iteration, I pushed one piston back. It went easy. While pushing the second one back, the first one came out far enough to hit the rotor! Try as I might, I couldn't wedge anything in there to leverage it back.

So I had to remove the caliper. Ug. I ended up making a special wrench for the lower bolt. Once I did that, the bolt came out and went in like butta. With the caliper off, I used a C-clamp to push the piston back and all was well. I was sweatin' it for a bit there!

Let that be a lesson - watch what you're doing!

Man,
Thom...
I left to study in Europe for a month and you paint your whole car along with a bunch of other projects...
I wish I had the skill. My projects take forever!
Nice work. I can't wait to see more, including pics w/ the new lid.
Pete

Thom,
I swear you get more work done on that car in a week than I could in a year! The car really looks great. Posts some more pics so we can check out the paint.

When you first carved off your targa bar I wondered what you were up to. Then you added a rollbar to your new cab and I thought "WTF?"

Now I'm looking at your car thinking I better get off my butt and get busy on mine. You offer no comfort to the lazy do-it-yourselfer.
